Job Description

The Dean of Students, Albert A. Sheen Campus, has oversight for the Division of Student Affairs personnel and programming, specifically: new student orientation programs, counseling & placement, student employment, health services, student governance, student leadership development, student activities, residence life, food services, student discipline/judicial affairs and services for students with special needs. Exercise considerable initiative and judgment in planning and carrying out assignments; receive general administrative direction; assess situations and take appropriate responsive and/or planning action. Selects, trains, directs, and evaluates staff in the area of assigned responsibility. Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet university goals and objectives. The Dean of Students, Albert A. Sheen Campus, may be called upon to perform other duties as assigned by the Provost.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge: A comprehensive knowledge of standard practices and policies related to university student affairs components; Knowledge of federal and local mandates applicable to service delivery.
Skills: Superior organizational, leadership and managerial skills; Superior communication skills: speaking and writing; Good computer skills; Demonstrated commitment to staff development and training.
Abilities: Excellent ability to build and sustain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of constituents; Ability to measure programming and performance through outcomes assessment; Work in a diverse environment; Work under pressure; Meet deadlines; Ability to produce professional and accurate work outputs.

Master’s level preparation in Education Administration or Related Field. Five years of experience in the area of student affairs or similar field.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree preferred.

Physical Demands

Visual and manual ability to work on computer for majority of daily activity.
