Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic nursing faculty member who exemplifies professionalism, clinical expertise, innovation in teaching undergraduate nursing courses in pre-licensure nursing programs and has demonstrated scholarship, management, student advising, committee service and community engagement to join our team.
The successful candidates’ primary responsibilities will include teaching nursing courses across BSN curriculum (2016); advising students; and, working to implement the new SON Strategic Plan.
This post also requires the faculty member to support the development and use using simulation in clinical teaching; and; the development of nursing education programs which may include graduate nursing education. Opportunities for scholarly research are also available through our research centers: The Caribbean Exploratory Research Center (CERC) and the Eastern Caribbean Health Outcomes Research Network (ECHORN).

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Nursing and clinical experience in an advanced practice nursing role are required. Experience in an inpatient nursing specialty area and community settings are also required.

Team working and leadership skills are also essential in order to effectively participate in SON and UVI governance activities, program development and assure continued ACEN Accreditation.
Current Licensure to practice and eligibility for licensure in the USVI is required.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Doctorate in Nursing or a related field with
Certification as a Nurse Educator and/or Nurse Practitioner.
Previous experience in collegiate teaching, familiarity with ACEN accreditation processes, QSEN and the AACN essential competencies, the ability to work with a diverse population is preferred.
The ability to initiate or continue a research program and other scholarly activities is an asset.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. Walking, lifting and or moving up to 25 pounds will also be required occasionally.
Specific visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
